NewsJanuary, 2010 Dutch Warmbloods excelled in 2009. Studbook rankings published by the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH) reflect the KWPN ranked first for Show Jumping for the sixth consecutive year with Olympic Gold Medallist Hickstead ranked #1, Robin Hood W ranked #2 who along with his dam, Melisimo competed in the Las Vegas World Cup Final in 2009, and Okidoki ranked #5. In Dressage, the KWPN was also ranked number one by the WBFSH, passing the Hanoverians. As in Show Jumping, the KWPN had three of the top five ranked Dressage horses, including the #1 ranked Parzival, third ranked Totilas (see September News below) and fifth ranked Ravel. Finally, the KWPN demonstrated the versatility of the breed by moving up to fifth place in the WBFSH rankng for Eventing On a personal front, Aledante has returned from 90 days of training and will be given a short break until the weather in Virginia improve. September, 2009 I just realized I haven't been doing a very good job of updating news - I'll try to do better going forward. I've just learned that the Dutch Warmblood Stallion Moorlands Totilas ridden by Edward Gal started his Grand Prix Dressage career this summer with stunning results, with a World Record of 89.400 at Hickstead in July and followed that up in August by breaking his own World Record, posting a 90.750 at Windsor. CONGRATULATIONS EDWARD AND TOTILAS. This is significant for a couple of reasons - first, Dutch Warmbloods are having an outstanding year in Dressage AND Show Jumping; secondly, my yearling Dutch Warmblood gelding, Devonnis HUF shares some pedigree with Totilas. Namely, Totilas's paternal grandsire Kostolony descends from the same infamous Kassette mareline behind Devonnis' dam Klassik Gold and many other successful Trakehners. On Totilas's mare side, Nimmerdor and Akteur appear. Also, Aledante was delivered to her trainer, April Rivers of Riverdanz Farm to be started. I will post pictures and updates as she progresses. July, 2009 Continuing to tout Dutch Warmbloods, Devonnis HUF's sire, Judgement ISF earned his 13th win at Spruce Meadows, capturing the $65,000.00 Esso Challenge plus a second and fourth in other competitions. And Steffen Peters and Ravel, by Contango became the first American team to sweep all three Grand Prix Dressage events at Aachen. While I have thoroughly enjoyed my experiences with the horses and I am truly excited by the foals Heads Up Farm has produced, I realize that it is time for me to start winding down and preparing for my retirement from the world of breeding horses and my "real" job. So, over the course of the next few months or so I will be making preparations. Aledante is scheduled to be started in August, Devonnis and Dyami have been gelded and First Testamony, Temptation and Dark Yester will have their job descriptions changed back to riding horses from "lawn care specialists (fertilizing and trimming)". Everything is for sale and I would be glad to answer any questions/entertain any reasonable offers. June, 2009 It's been a while since I've added any news. Decisions have been rendered in the divorce and all of the horses except Elektra will be remaining at Heads Up Farm in Virginia and I (Chuck) will have responsibility and authority for their care and sales. The 2008 foals, Devonnis HUF and Dyami HUF have been fully nominated to the Young Jumper Championships. Klassik Gold has settled in to her new home and produced a beautiful little filly by the Trakehner stallion Schiffon, congratulations to Judy. Dutch Warmbloods had another good, actually great, showing at the World Cup in April 2009. In Show Jumping, four of the top seven horses were Dutch, including Albert Zoer from the Netherlands riding Okidoki was third, Christina Liebherr from Switzerland riding No Mercy was fourth, Rodrigo Pessoa from Brazis riding Rufus was fifth and Ben Maher from Great Britain riding Robin Hood W was seventh. In Dressage, Steffen Peters and Ravel representing the USA won and IPS Painted Black ridden by Anky van Grunsven from the Netherlands was third. June, 2008 At the age of 17, Judgement ISF, sire of Heads Up Farm's 2008 colt, Devonnis HUF and a half brother to Heads Up Farm's Dyami HUF (Consul), continues to amaze. In five competitions at Spruce Meadows in June 2008, Judgement ISF had two first places, one second and one third, earning nearly $128,000, including his third consecutive win in the prestigious Nexen Cup Derby (formerly the Shell Cup Derby). May, 2008 Two outstanding Jumper foals arrived in April - a colt by Consul out of Dark
Yester xx arrived on April 18 and another colt by Judgement ISF out of Klassik
Gold (Trak) was born on April 23.

In other news, Gery Slot from the Netherlands sent me a message letting me know that earlier this month, Andre Thieme, riding Nacorde again won the Hamburg Derby, the toughest Derby in Europe. Congratulations Andre and Thanks to Gery for keeping me up-to-date on the accomplishments of outstanding offspring from the breeding family 712 Ida line. Gery has some interesting horses for sale in Holland. You can contact Gery for more information at gmhslot@planet.nl. March, 2008 Two items this month - first I would like to thank Gery Slot from the Netherlands for providing me with information on the breeding family 712 Ida line (Tobias' mare line) which is behind Aledante. I will post the specifics on Aledante's page. Gery is a breeder from the Netherlands. Gery's email is gmhslot@planet.nl. Second item this month is that foal watch is beginning in earnest now - Klassik

Yester, in foal to Consul, is due on April 14. Both mares are doing
well and I am really excited about the pending birth of these two foals.
